I took vacation this Labor Day week and devoted half of it to writing and the other half to clearing clutter from my closets, cupboards, drawers, and garage. Interestingly, as the week progressed and I engaged in an orgy of sorting, divesting, and shredding, I found my writing opening up and coming more easily—an interesting connection. Of course, I should de-clutter as I go and not wait until I have a mountain, but, like others, I don’t. It’s been a good week, I’m having a couple of people for dinner tomorrow, and I’ll go back to work next week with a lighter load.
